Taking a big decision, US President Donald Trump has signed an order to impose tariffs on several countries. Trump has issued an order for tariffs ranging from 10 to 41 percent. He says that this step will provide economic security to America and will also remove the imbalance in trade that has been going on for years. The White House has issued a factsheet, which mentions the tariff rates of several countries.
According to the news of ‘Hindustan Times’, the new tariff rates include 25% tariff on exports from India, 20% on goods coming from Taiwan and 30% tariff on goods coming from South Africa. 19 percent tariff has been imposed on Pakistan and 15 percent on Japan. Similarly, 15 percent tariff has been imposed on Israel and 35 percent on Iraq. Trump has imposed 30 percent tariff on South Africa, 15 percent on South Korea and 20 percent on Sri Lanka.
When will the new tariff rate be implemented?
The factsheet released by the White House states that the tariff rate was to be implemented from August 1, but it has been said that it will be implemented a week after the new order. Trump has created a different system for Canada. According to Reuters, a 35 percent tariff has been imposed on Canada. It was 25 percent earlier. America has alleged that Canada has failed to stop the illegal drug crisis.
What will be the effect of the new tariff?
Trump’s new tariff rate can also put a burden on American companies. He says that this rate will affect foreign exporters, but it is also being claimed that most of its burden will fall on American companies. This can increase inflation in America.
