Amravati: There has been a big uproar in Amravati, Maharashtra. The protesting minority community people pelted stones at the Nagpuri Gate police station. Many policemen have been injured due to this. Many police vehicles and bikes have been damaged in the stone pelting. Police had to lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Apart from this, the police also fired tear gas shells. Seeing the tension on the spot, the Police Commissioner issued orders for gathering under section 163 of BNS in the Nagpuri Gate police station area.
Anger erupted over controversial statement of Yati Nityananda Maharaj
According to the information, tension has increased in Amravati after the controversial statement given by UP’s Yati Nityananda Maharaj against the Muslim religious leader. On Saturday, people of the minority community associated with the Social Democratic Party of India surrounded the Nagpuri Gate police station and demonstrated demanding action. The situation worsened when some miscreants pelted stones at the police station and the policemen present there. 8 to 10 policemen were injured in this violent incident. Four to five big police vehicles and 10 to 15 motorcycles were vandalized and damaged.
The uproar continued for an hour
To control the situation, the police called additional forces and lathicharge was done to control the crowd. Tear gas shells were also fired, after which the situation came under control after about an hour of uproar. Due to increasing tension in Nagpuri Gate area, the police have imposed jamabandi in the area. Police Commissioner Naveen Chandra Reddy issued this order and said that the situation is under control, but police force has been deployed as a precaution.
Police will take strict action against the accused
After the incident, the police have started identifying the anti-social elements who pelted stones and vandalized. Teams of all the major police officers of Amravati and the Rural SP have also been deployed at the spot. Apart from this, two platoons of SRP have also been deployed in view of security. At present, tense peace prevails in Nagpuri Gate and surrounding areas. Police Commissioner Naveen Chandra Reddy said that strict action will be taken against the culprits of this incident and soon the arrests of anti-social elements spoiling the atmosphere will be started.
