The deceased in this accident have been identified as 80-year-old Govind Ram Nagpal and his 78-year-old wife Sheela Nagpal. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.
According to the fire department officials, the fire broke out in the household items kept on the third floor of the house. It is suspected that this fire might have been caused by a short circuit. At present, the police and the fire department have started investigating the matter. According to the police, the son of the deceased couple lives in America. At the same time, their daughter lives in West Bihar, Delhi. The police has informed both of them about the incident. According to the police, this elderly couple lived alone here since the son went to America.
Short circuit might have happened due to running the heater
According to the police, it was very cold in Delhi on Wednesday morning. It is suspected that this elderly couple must have turned on the heater to escape the cold. The wiring of the house could not bear the load of this heater and perhaps this is why there was a short circuit in the wiring. According to the fire department officials, the spark from the short circuit in the wiring fell on the household items and this took a horrific form in no time. In this situation, the elderly would not have even got a chance to run away from the house.
