Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu may soon bring a proposal that only people who have more than two children will be allowed to contest municipal and panchayat elections.

The Andhra Pradesh government and its Chief Minister are currently considering a new proposal. It is believed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu can bring it soon. According to which only people with more than two children will be allowed to contest municipal and panchayat elections. Naidu’s statement has come just a few months after the repeal of a three-decade-old law. In which persons with more than two children were barred from contesting local body elections.

Naidu has been advocating for the last decade that Telugu people should have more children to deal with the population problem. Last year he talked about the need to encourage families with more children.

Will be able to contest elections only if you have more than 2 children

Like Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the people to have more children. Naidu said in his native village Narvaripalli on Tuesday that we had a law earlier. Which did not allow people with more than two children to contest local body and civic body elections.

Now I say that people with fewer children will not be allowed to contest elections. In future, you will be able to become a Sarpanch, Municipal Councilor or Mayor only if you have more than two children. I am going to include this (in the proposal).

Rice will be given for having more children
The Chief Minister said that he is going to encourage families with more children, including allowing them to contest Panchayat and Municipal elections. Naidu said that he is also working on a proposal to provide more subsidized rice to families with more children. At present, every family is given 25 kg of subsidized rice. In which each member gets 5 kg of rice.

CM concerned about population decline
In the 70s, all the governments of the country launched a family planning campaign for population control. Which also had a huge impact. But the states of South India achieved this policy decades ago. All South Indian states followed the rule of having two children.

As is evident from the total fertility rate (TFR) of these states, which is 1.73. Which is less than the national average of 2.1. The TFR of five big states Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand is 2.4, which is more than the national average. He said that if the family planning policy is not changed, then in a few years India will have to face the problems of increasing age.

The CM said that Japan, Korea and many European countries have encouraged family planning policy because the total fertility rate there is very low. These countries are today grappling with the concerns related to increasing population. If there is no change in this, then the country will also be in the same condition. He said that if India is moving from a developing country to a developed country, then it should not have enough young force.
