Another case has been registered in connection with the death of Greater Noida engineer Yuvraj Mehta. Police have filed a named FIR against five people. The case has been registered under the Environment Protection and Water Pollution Prevention Act. A case has been registered against builders Abhay Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Achal Vohra, and Nirmal at the Knowledge Park police station. The case has been filed against the partners of Lotus Green Construction Private Limited and Wish Town.

The accident occurred on the night of January 16th
Yuvraj Mehta, who worked in Gurugram, was returning home on the night of January 16th when his car fell into a deep, water-filled pit near a construction site in Sector 150. He reportedly died after pleading for help for about two hours.

A builder in judicial custody
A builder arrested in connection with the engineer’s death was sent to judicial custody until January 27th on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the SIT has intensified its investigation into the case and questioned Noida Authority officials facing allegations of negligence. Assistant Government Advocate Dharmendra Jayant said that Abhay Kumar, one of the accused builders and director of ‘MJ Wishtown Planners’, was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Surajpur, where he was sent to judicial custody until January 27th.

Court reprimands for negligence
Jayant said, “During the hearing, the court severely reprimanded the authorities for negligence in this case. The court made strong remarks and directed the police to clarify in the investigation whose negligence was responsible. If the drain was broken, who is responsible? Moreover, if there were no barricades, who is responsible?” According to them, the court said that all of this should be part of the investigation, as people had been complaining about the issue for several years, so why wasn’t action taken at the appropriate time?

Forensic Experts Collect Samples
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Hemant Upadhyay said that efforts are underway to arrest the second builder of the real estate developer ‘Lotus Greens’, who is named in the FIR. He said that as part of the investigation, forensic experts collected samples from the accident site on Wednesday. Officials said that the three-member SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government spent several hours at the Noida Authority headquarters in Sector-6 and questioned senior officials as well as junior-level employees, particularly those associated with the traffic cell.

Administration Also Spoke to the Victim’s Father
The SIT, headed by Additional Director General of Police (Meerut Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar, arrived in Noida on Tuesday. The team also includes the Divisional Commissioner of Meerut and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. The team visited the accident site in Sector-150 and also spoke to the victim’s father, Raj Kumar Mehta. Since Wednesday morning, teams from the forensic laboratory and other departments were seen measuring the road and the adjacent drain at the accident site in Sector-150. Officials thoroughly inspected the entire area, including the deep pit from where the car of the deceased, Yuvraj Mehta, was recovered on Tuesday evening.
