Asaduddin Owaisi: Strongly criticizing the government’s intention and process regarding the Waqf Bill, he said that the proposed amendment is not to save the Waqf properties but to destroy them, ‘If the Waqf Amendment Bill is forcibly brought, then bad results will come out’

Waqf Bill 2024: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly objected to the government’s working style on the suspension of the Waqf Board JPC today, Friday 24 January 2025. Calling it a sensitive issue, he said that the government is trying to forcibly pass this bill in Parliament through JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), which may adversely affect a particular community.

Owaisi described the government’s process on the Waqf Bill as unfair and haphazard. He says that instead of preserving the Waqf properties, the proposed amendments are to destroy these properties. He said, “The Waqf Bill is a sensitive issue. If the government wants to forcibly pass it and bring it to Parliament through JPC, it will have bad consequences legally as well and will have an adverse effect on a particular community.”

Demand for intervention from JPC and Lok Sabha Speaker
Owaisi further said that the way the committee presented its report regarding the process of this bill is haphazard and disorganized. He accused the government of trying to pass this bill in a hurry, which is wrong. He said, “We request the Lok Sabha Speaker to intervene in this matter.”

Question on government’s intention on Waqf properties

Asaduddin Owaisi also questioned that the real objective of the government is to destroy Waqf properties instead of saving them. He alleged that the amendments proposed under this bill will weaken the position of Waqf properties instead of protecting them.
