Asaram, who is serving life sentence in sexual assault case, has got a big relief from Gujarat High Court. Gujarat High Court has given relief to Asaram and extended his interim bail for three months. Earlier, on 7th January, Supreme Court had given interim bail to Asaram. After this, on 14th January, Rajasthan High Court also gave relief to Asaram till 31st March.
Asaram’s lawyers had filed a petition in Gujarat and Rajasthan High Court to extend the interim bail given till 31st March. Gujarat High Court has now given relief to Asaram in this case. On the other hand, Rajasthan High Court will hear this entire case on Monday, i.e. 1st April. If Asaram gets relief from Rajasthan High Court also, then he will again be out of Jodhpur Central Jail on interim bail for three months.
Supreme Court had given relief to Asaram till 31st March in January and granted him interim bail. His interim bail was about to expire. After March 31, he would have to return to Jodhpur Central Jail once again, but before that Gujarat High Court granted him interim bail for three months. Now due to Saturday and Sunday being a holiday in Rajasthan High Court, Asaram’s petition will be heard on Monday, April 1.
Asaram undergoing treatment in Jodhpur
It is worth mentioning that Asaram has returned to Jodhpur 15 days before the expiry of the interim bail and is undergoing treatment from a private Ayurveda hospital (Ashram located on Pal Road in Jodhpur). He was to return to Jodhpur Central Jail again on March 31, but before that Gujarat High Court has given him a big relief. In January, while hearing the case, Supreme Court granted interim bail to Asaram till March 31.
He got bail for treatment from Supreme Court
Along with this, Supreme Court had also imposed several conditions with interim bail, in which he will not meet his followers during the bail. Along with this, he had to return to Jodhpur Central Jail by March 31 after taking medical treatment. In such a situation, it was said that Asaram can only take medical treatment during bail. Earlier, dozens of petitions for bail of Asaram were rejected in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had accepted the interim bail of Asaram after looking at his medical ground report, in which it was believed that Asaram needs treatment.
