The Himanta Biswa government of Assam has taken a big decision. The government has banned beef in the state’s hotels and restaurants. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on the social media platform X and said that the cabinet has decided to ban beef in the state’s hotels, restaurants and public places.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that we brought a law 3 years ago to stop cow slaughter in Assam. With this law, we have got a lot of success against cow slaughter. Now we have decided that beef will not be served in any hotel, restaurant or public place in the state. Earlier our decision was that beef would not be served within 5 km radius of any temple.
Should Congress welcome the ban or go to Pakistan?
After this decision of Himanta Biswa Sarma, minister in the government Pijush Hazarika has posted a post on the social media platform X. In this, he has challenged the Assam Congress. Hazarika said, I challenge the Assam Congress to either welcome the beef ban or go and settle in Pakistan.
Big decision of Assam government amid allegations of Congress
This decision of Assam government has come at a time when politics over beef is intensifying in the state. Recently, BJP was accused of distributing beef in the by-election held on Samguri assembly seat. This seat is Muslim dominated. BJP had won this seat in the by-election.
Has Congress been winning elections like this?
Amidst these political allegations, the Chief Minister of Assam had said, if the state Congress chief Bhupen Bora writes a letter and requests to ban beef, then he will ban beef in the state. He said, Congress will tell whether it has been winning elections in Samguri till now by offering beef to the voters. I want to tell Rakibul Hussain that beef should be banned. He himself has said that this is wrong. Now he just has to give this in writing.
