At least 10 militants were killed in an encounter with a unit of Assam Rifles in Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday, officials said, adding that the operation was still underway. The Army’s Eastern Command said in a post on social media platform X that acting on intelligence inputs about the movement of armed militants near New Samtal village in Chandel district close to the India-Myanmar border, the Assam Rifles launched an operation on Wednesday.
The Army said that during the operation, the troops were fired upon by suspected militants, following which 10 militants were killed in retaliation. A large quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered in the operation.

According to the army, when the soldiers cordoned off the area during the operation, the suspected militants started firing at them. In retaliation, the soldiers fired with restraint and strategy. 10 militants have been killed in this encounter. The army also informed that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition has also been recovered. This operation has been described as calibrated i.e. planned and precise.
Security forces got big success
According to sources, search operation is still being carried out in view of the possibility of more militants hiding in the area. During the operation, no jawan was killed. There is no news of any casualties. This action is being considered an important success by the security forces amid the ongoing unrest in Manipur.
