Delhi CM Atishi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena administered the oath of CM to Atishi in a simple ceremony held at Raj Niwas on Saturday (September 21). With this, Atishi has become the third and youngest woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Along with her, AAP MLAs Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain and Mukesh Ahlawat took oath as ministers.
Mukesh Ahlawat, MLA from Sultanpur Mazra, has become a minister in the Delhi government for the first time. While Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain were also cabinet ministers in the Arvind Kejriwal government.
Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM on September 17 after being released on bail from Tihar Jail in a case related to excise policy. After that, Atishi was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislature party in the Aam Aadmi Party Legislature Party meeting.

Senior AAP leader Atishi is an MLA from Kalkaji in Delhi. In the Arvind Kejriwal government, she was the minister of many other departments including Education, PWD, Electricity, Tourism, Women and Child Development. She is also a member of the Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party. She obtained a master’s degree in History from Oxford University in 2003. She has been a member of the Aam Aadmi Party since its inception.
Saurabh Bhardwaj
Saurabh Bhardwaj is an MLA from Greater Kailash assembly seat in Delhi. In the Arvind Kejriwal government, he was the Minister of Health, Urban Development, Tourism-Art Culture Language, Industry, Irrigation and Flood Control. Earlier, he has also been the Chairman of Delhi Jal Board. Saurabh Bhardwaj started his professional career as a microchips and coding expert in a private company.
Kailash Gehlot
Kailash Gehlot is an MLA from Najafgarh assembly seat in Delhi rural. He is considered an important leader of Delhi rural. In the Arvind Kejriwal government, he has handled the responsibility of transport, revenue, administrative reforms, information and technology, law, justice and legislative affairs. He also came into the limelight for hoisting the tricolor in place of the former CM at the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi on August 15.
Gopal Rai
Gopal Rai is the Delhi in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the most experienced leader in the Delhi government. In the Arvind Kejriwal government, he has handled the responsibility of environment and other ministries. He is also a member of the National Executive of the Aam Aadmi Party. He has been associated with Arvind Kejriwal since the time of the Anna movement.
Imran Hussain
Imran Hussain is the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Ballimaran assembly seat. He has a good hold in Muslim-dominated areas. He is a two-time MLA. He was the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Elections in Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet. He has been a student of Jamia Millia Islamia University’s Bachelor of Business Studies.
Mukesh Ahlawat
Dalit leader Mukesh Ahlawat is an MLA from Sultanpur Mazra in Delhi. Mukesh is a first-time MLA. In 2020, AAP gave him a ticket from Sultanpur. Before him, Sandeep Kumar was also elected MLA from Sultanpur Majra on AAP ticket in 2015. Before that, this seat has been a stronghold of Congress. Congress has won the elections from here from 1993 to 2013. Mukesh Ahlawat is the only new face who has got a place in Atishi Cabinet.
