Abu Azmi On Bakrid: Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Bakrid will be celebrated on 7 June this year, but a situation of controversy has arisen in Maharashtra even before the festival. The Maharashtra Gauseva Commission had ordered the state’s Krishi Upaj Mandi Samitis to keep the animal market closed from June 3 to June 8, which caused resentment in the Muslim community. Maharashtra Samajwadi Party President and MLA Abu Asim Azmi met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on this issue and expressed his concern.
The proposal to keep the market closed was withdrawn – Azmi
Azmi posted on the social media platform X and said that in the meeting with the CM, he was assured that like every time, this time too all the necessary facilities will be provided on Bakrid. Special attention will be given to law and order and the proposal to keep the market closed has been withdrawn. Also, it has been decided to reduce the fee of Rs 200 on sacrificial animals to Rs 20. Instructions have also been given to take action against the officials involved in corruption. Azmi said that some people are trying to spoil the atmosphere of Bakrid by making Hindu-Muslim issue, against whom strict attitude should be adopted.
Azmi put these issues in front of the Chief Minister
Many other important issues were also put before the Chief Minister in the meeting. Out of 22 livestock development officers appointed in Deonar Slaughter House, 13 were said to be inexperienced and it was demanded that 10 experienced PVOs be retained till Bakrid. Apart from this, permission for entry of animals in Deonar for 17 days, online permit system, counting of goats at three levels and transparent system of fee collection were demanded.
The business class alleged that illegal recovery of 3 to 5 thousand rupees is being done in the name of parking and entry fee. Along with this, questions were also raised on the alleged arbitrary action of the police in Ambarnath and Ulhasnagar, in which people were sent to jail and illegal recovery was done in cases of selling beef and animal transportation without investigation.
Taunting Nitesh Rane
Abu Azmi also directly attacked BJP MLA Nitesh Rane on this entire issue. He said that Nitesh Rane probably does not know that the religious constitution of Muslims has been written 1400 years ago and the Indian Constitution allows it to be followed. He said that Muslims have been celebrating Bakrid in the past, are celebrating it even today and will continue to celebrate it in the future. No person, be it Nitesh Rane or someone bigger than him, can stop this.
MLA Abu Azmi said that he held a meeting with the officials of the Sunni Badi Masjid located in Madanpura, South Mumbai. In this meeting, the ongoing loudspeaker dispute on mosques was also discussed. He alleged that some people are pressurizing the police administration to take unilateral action on mosques, while all mosques are following the decibel limit set by the court.
SP MLA Abu Azmi’s big statement on Bakrid, ‘Keep your tongue shut so that…’
Preparations are being made across the country for Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Bakrid. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Gauseva Commission has issued instructions to all the Krishi Upaj Mandi Committees of the state to keep the animal market closed from June 3 to June 8. It is being told that this decision has been taken in view of Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Bakrid. Now Maharashtra Samajwadi Party President and MLA Abu Azmi has objected to this. He has raised questions on the rights of the commission and alleged that efforts are being made to spread hatred against Muslims.
Talking to news agency IANS, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi said, “Bakrid is on 7, 8 and 9 June and how can they ask to close the market? What right do they have? People of every religion in this country have full right to live according to their faith and follow their religion. This sacrifice is necessary for us.”

These people are just spreading hatred – Abu Azmi
He also said, “If a person has so much income that he can live and eat with dignity, then he should sacrifice. It is our duty to do so. I believe that these people are only spreading hatred. This is a part of what is happening with Muslims. I don’t think that such an order can come.”
‘I will request the CM to issue an SOP’
SP leader Abu Azmi further said, “Everyone will be able to celebrate Bakrid. I will request Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to issue an SOP. Let this festival be celebrated in the same way as Bakrid has been celebrated till date. Tell those who are spreading misunderstanding and hatred to keep their mouths shut so that people can celebrate Eid-ul-Azha peacefully.”
