Islamabad: For the first time after the coup in Bangladesh, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif today held a phone conversation with Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus. Now, there is a possibility of a new beginning of relations between the two countries. Bangladesh’s BNP has been a strong supporter of Pakistan, whose head is Khalid Zia. Now it is believed that Khalid Zia will be in power. In such a situation, the relations between the two countries can become cordial. Shahbaz and Yunus agreed to work together for the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
In such a situation, it is believed that both the countries can become friends in future. According to an official statement issued here, during the telephone conversation, they also agreed that “more regional cooperation can play an important role in improving the lives of the people of South Asia.” Sharif’s phone conversation with Yunus is the first high-level direct contact between the leaders of the two countries after the change of government in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sharif stressed the importance of increasing cooperation in various fields and “reviving bilateral relations”. They emphasised shared historical, religious and cultural ties and expressed a “deep desire to enhance commercial ties, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts”.
Sharif congratulates Mohammad Yunus
Sharif congratulated Yunus on assuming the leadership of the interim government of Bangladesh. He conveyed his best wishes to the Chief Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh and expressed hope that the goodwill between the two countries will translate into substantial cooperation in the interest of their people. Sharif expressed condolences on the devastation caused by the recent floods in Bangladesh and expressed his willingness to assist. Yunus thanked Sharif for the phone call and congratulatory message after being sworn in as Chief Adviser.
