Bangladesh: The gold crown of the country’s famous Jeshoreshwari Kali temple was stolen; Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gifted this gold crown in 2021.

Bangladesh Jeshoreshwari Temple: The crown of Maa Kali has been stolen from the Jeshoreshwari temple in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, Bangladesh. According to The Daily Star report, the crown was gifted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the temple in March, 2021. The theft took place between 2 pm and 2.30 pm on Thursday, when temple priest Dilip Mukherjee left after the day’s worship. According to the report, cleaning staff later discovered that the crown was missing from the deity’s head.

On the matter, Shyamnagar police station inspector Taizul Islam said, “We are examining the CCTV footage of the temple to identify the thief.” The stolen crown is made of silver and gold plating, which holds significant cultural and religious significance. According to Hindu mythology, Jeshoreshwari temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas spread across India and neighboring countries. The name “Jeshoreshwari” means “Goddess of Jessore.”

Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple is a famous Hindu temple

Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, located in Ishwaripur, a village in Shyam Nagar of Satkhira Upazila. It is believed that this temple was built by a Brahmin named Anari in the late 12th century. He built a temple with 100 doors for Jeshoreshwari Peeth (temple) and later it was renovated by Laxman Sen in the 13th century. Finally King Pratapaditya rebuilt the temple in the 16th century.

According to Hindu mythology, out of the 51 Peethas, the temple of Ishwaripur is the place where the palms and soles of the feet of Goddess Sati fell. The goddess resides there as Goddess Jeshoreshwari and Lord Shiva appears as Chanda.

Meanwhile, the gold crown of the famous Jeshoreshwari Kali temple located in Shyamnagar of Satkhira city of Bangladesh has been stolen. This theft incident was captured in the CCTV of the temple, in which a young man is seen taking away the golden crown.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special connection with this crown of Kali temple of Bangladesh. Actually, when PM Modi visited Bangladesh in the year 2021, he gifted a golden crown to the country. However, now this crown has been stolen on the special occasion of Durga Puja.

When did the golden crown get stolen?

This incident of theft from the temple took place on Thursday (October 10) between 2:47 pm and 2:50 pm. According to reports, after completing the daily worship, the temple priest Dilip Kumar Banerjee handed over the keys of the temple to Rekha Sarkar, who is responsible for maintenance. After this, Rekha Sarkar told that when he came back after doing some work, I saw that the golden crown of Maa Kali was not present there. After that I informed everyone about this.

Police officer gave information
After this theft incident, the police was immediately informed. The police have started the investigation. Police station officer Fakir Taizur Rahman said, “We are trying our best to find the gift given by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to the country after it was stolen. The investigation is underway and we are scanning the CCTV footage to identify the culprit.”
