Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s scooty ride landed him in trouble. The scooty he used during inspection of the Hebbal flyover loop on Tuesday had a total of Rs 18,500 pending traffic fines. On August 5, Shivakumar posted a video on Instagram in which he was seen driving a Honda Dio with registration number KA04 JZ2087.

The scooty violated traffic rules 34 times

The Deputy CM wrote on Instagram, “As part of our government’s commitment to build a better Bengaluru, the Hebbal flyover loop is about to open, ensuring smooth and faster traffic.” A check on the Karnataka State Police (KSP) app revealed that the scooter had 34 pending traffic violations amounting to Rs 18,500. The opposition JD(S) raised the issue on Instagram and criticised the Deputy Chief Minister for driving with such a huge amount of fines. After this, the worker who owned this vehicle quickly went to the police station and paid the fine amount.

The challan was issued for these things

According to the information, this gearless scooter with license plate number (KA 04 JZ 2087) is registered in the name of Babajan, son of Nanne Sab S, a resident of Bhuvaneshwarinagar, RT Nagar. The list of 34 offenses includes talking on mobile phone while driving, breaking traffic signals, wrong parking and riding a bike without a helmet, etc. The JD(S) party targeted Shivakumar and shared his video of pillion riding on the scooter, pointing out the outstanding fine.

A senior traffic police officer said that the half helmets worn by Shivakumar and his pillion during inspection are illegal. However, we are not penalizing the public for wearing half helmets, so we will not fine Shivakumar and his pillion for half helmets. But yes, whenever we find drivers with half helmets, we request them not to use them.
