The tussle over seat-sharing within the All India Alliance for the Bihar elections continues. The Congress Central Election Committee met on Wednesday, finalizing 25 candidates. Following the meeting, Congress Legislature Party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, regarding the internal turmoil, stated that all seats that could fall within their quota were discussed. Many were finalized, meaning that 55-60 seats were discussed.
Congress Legislature Party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan further stated that the seat-sharing agreement could be announced on October 11th. He also stated that the seat-sharing agreement and the announcement of Tejashwi as the CM face would be made simultaneously.
Regarding Mukesh Sahni, he stated that he has the right to express his views, and the rest should wait for the final decision. He also stated that discussions were held regarding giving tickets to 17 MLAs under the sitting-getting formula, but final approval for tickets for 2-3 could not be reached.
55-60 seats agreed upon – Congress
The Grand Alliance has almost reached an agreement on seat sharing. According to sources, RJD may contest 130-135 seats in the Grand Alliance, while Congress says it has reached an agreement on 55-60 seats. Meanwhile, the head of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, which had previously made higher demands, now appears to be in a mood of surrender. His party was initially demanding 40-60 seats.
However, there are speculations that VIP will receive 12-20 seats. However, what he said in an interview with TV9 on Wednesday came as a surprise. Sahni said, “I have no demands yet. There is no issue regarding seat sharing. All the parties in the Grand Alliance are on board.” Sahni had previously also demanded the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Although he remains adamant on this, he has softened his stance compared to before.
Sahni is demanding the Deputy CM post.
About four days ago, Sahni said, “Given our strength, we should demand more seats, but we are not increasing our demands. We want 60 seats, and the Deputy CM will also be from our party.” He also said, “I am not going anywhere because the people’s boat cannot sail without us.” Sahni called the BJP a “pygmy snake.”
