Bihar has become the first state in the country where all polling stations (PS) have less than 1,200 voters. 12,817 new polling stations have been added in Bihar to prevent long queues at polling stations. The Election Commission has recently carried out an exercise to shorten the queues of voters at polling stations on the day of voting. Under this, there is a provision to reduce the number of voters at each polling station from 1,500 to a maximum of 1,200.
According to the June 24 order of Bihar Voter List Revision (SIR), the earlier maximum limit of 1,500 voters at each polling station has now been reduced to 1,200 voters per polling station. After adding 12,817 new polling stations, the total number of polling stations in the state will increase from 77,895 to 90,712. This major achievement of Bihar is to be followed in other states and union territories as well.

From August 1, any common man can file objections for adding, deleting and correcting someone’s name in the draft voter list as per the SIR order. A full month will be available for this.
