Bihar: Bike-borne assailants shot two people in Dalsinghsarai in Samastipur; one attacker was beaten to death by a mob, while the other was caught.

Bike-borne criminals wreaked havoc in Dalsinghsarai, Samastipur district, Bihar, late Friday evening. A young man was fired upon indiscriminately near the Indian Bank on the city’s Sub-Divisional Hospital Road. Upon receiving the news, panic gripped the surrounding area, with people running for cover. Such incidents have created panic among both traders and the general public. A woman who rushed to intervene was also shot. The incident caused widespread panic in the area.

According to reports, Pappu Paswan, a resident of Loknathpur Belwana, was on his way to the Indian Bank on his bike when three bike-borne criminals stopped him and began an argument. The altercation escalated, and one of the criminals shot Pappu Paswan in the leg.

What is the matter?
On hearing the gunshots, people gathered nearby, creating panic. Enraged, a mob chased and apprehended the fleeing criminals. The mob beat the accused to death. Police arrived at the scene and admitted him to Samastipur Sadar Hospital for treatment, where Dr. Satyendra Kumar, who was on duty, declared him dead after a preliminary examination.

The Dalsinghsarai watchman, who brought the accused to the hospital for treatment, stated that he was the same man who had fired shots in Dalsinghsarai and was fleeing. He was caught by the mob and beaten to death. He added that Rekha Devi, wife of Ramesh Sah, a resident of Sub-Divisional Hospital Road, intervened. The miscreants threatened her, but when she resisted, they shot her as well, hitting her hand.

People apprehended the accused
Villagers surrounded and severely beat a fleeing miscreant after the shooting. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, rescued the accused from the mob and took him to the hospital. The arrested accused has been identified as Sunny Kumar (24 years), son of Baleshwar Paswan, resident of Loknathpur. After first aid, he was referred to Sadar Hospital.

What did the police investigation reveal?
Upon receiving information about the incident, DSP Vivek Kumar Sharma reached the sub-divisional hospital. Preliminary investigations indicate the case is linked to an old rivalry. Nearby CCTV footage is being examined. Raids are underway to search for the two absconding criminals. Given the tension in the area since the incident, police forces have been deployed.

According to the police, police forces from several police stations, including Dalsinghsarai, have been instructed to camp in the area to control the situation. Locals have demanded the immediate arrest of the absconding accused. The police have assured that the culprits will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken. Police patrols have been increased in the area.
