Vinay Kumar was till now posted as DG of Police Building Construction Corporation. Presently Alok Raj was the DGP. But now Vinay Kumar will be the new DGP of Bihar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken a big decision and appointed 1991 batch IPS officer Vinay Kumar (IPS Vinay Kumar) as the new Director General of Police of Bihar. Vinay Kumar’s tenure will be of two years. Earlier, after RS Bhatti went on central deputation, Alok Raj was given the charge of DGP.
Where was Alok Raj posted?
Alok Raj was in charge of DG Surveillance as well as DG Police. The state government has sent the current DGP Alok Raj to the Police Building Construction Corporation. He has been made CMD along with DG of the corporation. The government has posted another DG level officer. Jitendra Singh Gangwar has been made DG of Surveillance. He has also been given additional charge of DG Civil Security.
Before Alok Raj, IPS officer RS Bhatti was serving as DGP of Bihar. After Bhatti’s departure, the government had given a big responsibility to the sharp police officer Alok Raj by making him the acting DGP.
During this time, there were speculations that Alok Raj would continue to be the DGP, but now the government of the state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has put an end to this and handed over the command of police in Bihar to IPS Vinay Kumar. When RS Bhatti was given the command as DGP of Bihar, even then IPS officer Vinay Kumar was in the race to become DGP. Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar next year.
