Bihar: In Muzaffarpur district, criminals once again shot ASI Vikas Kumar posted at Bela police station near a temple on Bela Road. The accused was arrested in an encounter.

In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, criminals have once again openly challenged the police. On Tuesday, two bike-borne assailants shot ASI Vikas Kumar, posted at the Bela police station, near a temple on Bela Road. This incident, which occurred in broad daylight, created a stir in the area. The injured ASI has been admitted to a private hospital in Bairia.

According to reports, ASI Vikas Kumar (Munshi) and his colleague, SI, were attempting to apprehend the leader of an ATM fraud gang when the assailant, Pappu Sahni, opened fire. The ASI was shot in the stomach, causing him to fall to the ground. After the shooting, the accused fled while firing in the air, causing panic at the scene and causing passersby to flee.

Police immediately cordoned off the area. A gunfight ensued between the Bela and Mithanpura police stations, in which the accused, Pappu Sahni, was also shot. He was arrested in an injured state. It is reported that the accused, Pappu Sahni, is the son of Meenapur RJD block president Umashankar Sahni and is associated with an ATM fraud gang.

The injured ASI has been admitted to a private hospital in Bairia, while the accused was taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, several senior officials, including the DIG and SSP, arrived at the scene. Officials confirmed that a member of an ATM fraud gang had fired at the police team. The investigation is currently underway.

DIG Chandan Kushwaha stated that the ASI was shot while attempting to arrest a criminal in the Bela police station area. The criminal who fired the shot is also injured and has been arrested. The weapon has been recovered. The accused is a cyber fraudster, whom the police were searching for. He opened fire upon seeing a police vehicle. He was previously absconding in an ATM fraud case.
