Bihar: Tejaswi Yadav shared a video of CM Nitish Kumar and wrote, ‘At least please do not insult the national anthem, Honorable Chief Minister.’

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar suddenly came down from the stage amidst the announcement of the national anthem being sung at the opening ceremony of the Sepak Takraw World Cup-2025 held in Patna on Thursday and after meeting the participants, joined the national anthem that started. 300 players and support staff from 20 countries are participating in the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 organized at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined his other cabinet colleagues and officials in the opening ceremony of this tournament. After he sat on the stage, as soon as Ravindran Shankaran, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, urged everyone to stand up for the national anthem, the Chief Minister suddenly got up from his chair and came down the stage and started meeting the participants.

On this occasion, 74-year-old Kumar greeted the participants with folded hands and greeted them by waving his hands in the air. A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion and a masked artist extended his hand to shake hands with the Chief Minister, to which Kumar asked him to remove the mask and instead of shaking hands, accepted his greetings with folded hands. Finally, Kumar returned to the stage and the national anthem was sung and during this the Chief Minister was seen standing on the stage with other people. An alleged video of this programme has been circulated on social media. In the video, while the national anthem was being sung, the Chief Minister is seen smiling and putting his hand on the shoulder of his Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar standing next to him, saying something to him and then folding his hands and greeting the people present in front of the stage.

During this, the Principal Secretary is seen gesturing with his hand and asking Nitish to remain silent during the national anthem. Kumar’s arch rival Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad and his son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav shared the said video and wrote on ‘X’, “Hindustan will not tolerate insult to the national anthem. People of Bihar, there is still something left.” For the first time, Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 is being organized in Bihar. More than 300 players and coaches from 20 countries will participate in this event. This competition has been organized at Patliputra Sports Complex from 20 to 25 March.
