Bihar: Two policemen killed, 12 injured in collision between truck and police van in Gopalganj district, truck seized while truck driver absconding

Gopalganj: A case of death of two policemen has come to light in a tragic road accident in the district on Sunday. This accident happened in Gopalganj district of Bihar. It is being told that on Sunday a truck hit a van from behind. There were policemen in the van, who were going for election duty. Due to the accident, two policemen died, while more than 12 people were injured. At present all the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The accused driver of the truck has fled from the spot. Police has given information about this.

 

Incident happened near Barhima market
Giving information about the incident, the police said that the incident took place near Barhima market when the police team in a van was going to Supaul to perform duty under the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Police said that the van carrying policemen on election duty was stopped near Barhima market when a speeding truck hit it from behind. Police said that two policemen died on the spot and more than 12 people were injured.

The injured were admitted to the hospital
In a statement issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj, it has been said that “All the injured have been admitted to the nearest government hospital and their condition is said to be stable.” The truck has been seized by the local police.” Police said that the deceased have been identified as two constables of Bihar Police, Ashok Kumar Oraon (resident of Purnia) and Pawan Mahato (resident of Bettiah). A local police officer said that the driver of the truck fled from the spot and further investigation is underway.
