Bihar: Two American citizens have been arrested in Madhubani, Bihar for allegedly trying to enter Nepal without valid documents. Police gave this information on Sunday (November 10). A senior official said that the arrested American citizens are residents of California.
Arrested near Betonha border post
On the other hand, the police also caught two local people who had provided them (American citizens) assistance during their stay in Jaynagar area near the India-Nepal border. According to the police, security personnel of the 48th battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) stopped two American citizens near the Betonha border post of Jaynagar police station area on Saturday (November 09) afternoon when they were going from India to Nepal.
The arrested American citizens are husband and wife
Jaynagar Deputy Superintendent of Police Ankur Kumar said that they were caught by SSB jawans when they were trying to enter Nepal without valid documents. The arrested American citizens are husband and wife. The woman, born in Nepal, had taken citizenship of the country after marrying an American citizen. Both were jointly questioned by the police, SSB and officials of other related agencies.
He said, “The police registered a case and arrested both the American citizens. Two local people have also been arrested for providing them with equipment.” These people were handed over to the Jayanagar police station by the SSB. According to preliminary interrogation, their purpose is said to be to meet their relatives in India and participate in Chhath Puja. At present, further investigation and action is being taken.
