Bihar: Under the Medal Lao-Naukri Pao scheme in the year 2023-24, 71 outstanding players have been given direct appointment letters for class one government jobs in various government departments without examination and interview.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced in 2010 that the state government would give jobs to the medal winning players. Fulfilling this promise, the Bihar government has so far given jobs to 342 players. Now the government has made ‘Bihar Utkrishta Khiladiyon Ki Direct Appointment Rules 2023’ on the lines of ‘Bring Medal, Get Job’. Under this, players who get medals in national and international sports competitions will be given direct jobs. According to this new rule, players will get a chance to become SDO and DSP if they perform well.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government is continuously working to promote sports and encourage players. The state government is fully committed to the all-round development of sports and players. Nitish Kumar had announced in the year 2010 itself that if players win medals in sports competitions, the government will give them jobs. Under which, a total of 271 players were given clerical jobs including 33 players in the year 2010, 125 players in the year 2011, 82 players in the year 2015 and 31 players in the year 2020.

So far 342 players have been given jobs

To increase the interest of youth towards sports in the state, the state government has made ‘Bihar Utkrishta Khiladiyon Ki Direct Appointment Rules 2023’ on the lines of ‘Medal Lao Naukri Pao’. A provision has been made to give appointment in government departments to excellent players who have won national, international medals in various sports competitions. Under this, in the year 2023-24, under the Medal Lao-Naukri Pao scheme, 71 excellent players have been given direct appointment letters for class one government jobs in various government departments without examination and interview. So far 342 players have been given jobs in Bihar.

Players were also given jobs in Railways
When Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the Railway Minister in the central government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at that time he had made arrangements to give jobs to players in the Railways. Under this arrangement, so far hundreds of players from all over the country have been given jobs in the Railways. Getting jobs in the Railways has increased the enthusiasm of the players. On the lines of giving jobs to the players in the Railways, Nitish Kumar started giving government jobs to the players who performed excellently in Bihar from the year 2010.

Opportunity to become SDO and DSP

Now under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, to increase the interest of the youth towards sports in the state, the state government has made ‘Bihar Utkrisht Khiladiyon Ki Direct Appointment Rules 2023’ on the lines of ‘Bring Medal, Get Job’. Under this, players who get medals in national and international sports competitions will be given direct jobs. According to this new rule, players will get a chance to become SDO and DSP on performing well. Recently 71 players have been given jobs under this manual, out of which 2 have been given the job of officers which includes Child Development Project Officer and Block Panchayati Raj Officer. 69 have been given the jobs of Sub Inspector of Police, Superintendent in Social Welfare Department and Data Entry Operator and Clerk.

Construction work of 250 stadiums completed

Sports are being promoted in Bihar. For this, sports facilities are being developed at every level so that children can study as well as play. Stadiums are being constructed at the block level in the state, in which construction work of about 250 stadiums has been completed so far. Players are being sent outside the state for better training.
