In light of this, he has decided to withdraw his brother from the Gaura Bauram seat and support Afzal Ali. Where did the problem lie?
In fact, just a day earlier, the RJD had taken action against its candidate for this seat, Afzal Ali Khan, and expelled him from the party for six years. In the Grand Alliance’s seat-sharing arrangement, this seat had gone to Mukesh Sahni, but Afzal Ali refused to back down and filed his nomination. Mukesh Sahni, on the other hand, remained adamant and had his brother nominate him. Meanwhile, the RJD took action against Afzal Ali and expelled him from the party for six years.
After the RJD’s action, Mukesh Sahni felt that Afzal Ali might overpower his brother or even suffer losses. In this situation, he removed his brother from the fray and openly supported Afzal Ali. Now it remains to be seen whether Afzal Ali will win this election.
