BJP MP Tejasvi Surya blamed CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar for the death of 11 people in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Unnao’s Manish Shukla blamed the RCB team

Bengaluru Stampede: During the celebration of the historic victory of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Bengaluru, a stampede broke out outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. 11 people died in this accident, which shook the whole country. A crowd of lakhs, inadequate security arrangements and unorganized management turned this happy atmosphere into mourning.

This incident has also brought a stir in political circles. On the matter, BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya put the entire responsibility of this incident on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. While being part of a multi-party delegation in the US, Surya said in an interview to a private TV channel, ‘This was not an anti-terrorist operation for which intelligence input was required. This is just a failure of general administration and planning.’

Sharp questions from Tejasvi Surya

Tejasvi Surya raised the question that the Chief Minister openly invited lakhs of people to the function, but nothing was done in the name of arrangements. Surya alleged that when the situation worsened, the Police Commissioner, RCB officials and the Chief Minister’s own political secretary were made scapegoats. Tejasvi Surya made a sarcastic remark by linking his statement to Sacha Baron Cohen’s film “The Dictator”. He also mocked the picture of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar with the RCB trophy and asked what has he done to promote local cricket in the last 18 years? What is his contribution to RCB’s victory?

The real responsible are the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister – Tejasvi Surya

After the incident, the Chief Minister’s political secretary K. Govindaraj, Police Commissioner B. Dayanand and Information Department head Hemant Nimbalkar were suspended. Also, RCB’s marketing head and four employees of the event management company were arrested. Describing these actions as “damage control” and “pretense”, Tejasvi Surya said that the real responsible are the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, who made others scapegoats to save themselves.

Example of T20 World Cup victory procession in Mumbai
Tejashwi cited the example of the victory procession after the 2024 T20 World Cup victory in Mumbai and said, “15-16 lakh people had gathered there, but not a single untoward incident took place. The reason was – better planning, dedicated administration and responsibility. He clarified that it was a completely man-made tragedy which could have been prevented if the state government had made proper arrangements in advance.

Manish Shukla of Unnao held the RCB team responsible

Manish Shukla said that when Pushpa 2 was released, one life was lost in the stampede during the launch and Allu Arjun was arrested because Allu Arjun was held responsible for that incident. Similarly, the entire RCB team is responsible for the stampede that happened after RCB’s victory and hence the RCB team should be arrested.
