The Election Commission has announced the dates for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Assembly elections are going to be held for the first time in the valley after the removal of Article 370. All political parties have started preparing for the elections. Meanwhile, BJP has claimed that it will contest the elections in Jammu and Kashmir on its own. However, it will support independent candidates on some seats.
At the same time, BJP is holding an important meeting in Jammu regarding the elections. The meeting will be led by G Kishan Reddy. Reddy has recently been made in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections by BJP. Before the meeting, Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravindra Raina said that BJP is fully prepared to contest the elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a lot of work for the development of Jammu and Kashmir in the last 10 years. Our government will come in the coming days. We will not contest the elections in alliance with any political party, but there will be 8 to 10 seats in Kashmir Valley where we will support independent candidates.
When asked about Omar Abdullah, Ravindra Raina said that he knows that his party is losing the elections. Also, on Chaudhary Zulfiqar joining BJP, Raina said, ‘He is a big leader of Jammu and Kashmir, we welcome him, his joining the party will strengthen the BJP.
Who all will be present in the meeting?
BJP’s election committee is going to hold a meeting regarding Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. In this meeting, Jammu and Kashmir President Ravindra Raina, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who has been made the President of BJP Election Committee, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Dr. Nirmal Singh, who has been made the President of the Manifesto, along with senior party leader Kavinder Gupta will be present.
Elections to be held in 3 phases
The Election Commission on Friday announced the dates for the assembly elections in both the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Elections will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, elections will be held in a single phase in Haryana. Counting of votes in both the states will be held on October 4.
