Bad news is coming for people who feed pigeons. Bombay High Court on Wednesday has directed to register an FIR against those who feed pigeons. The court has called feeding pigeons a public nuisance. Along with this, it has also been said that there is a danger to people’s health. Let’s know what is the whole matter.

Why did the court call it a danger?

Actually, the bench of Justice GS Kulkarni and Justice Arif Doctor of Bombay High Court has said a big thing during the hearing. While hearing a petition filed by a group of animal lovers, the court said that this matter is related to public health and it is a serious and potential threat to the health of people of all ages.

People feeding without approval

Earlier this month, the court had banned the demolition of any old pigeon house in the metropolitan area by BMC. However, the court had also said that it cannot give permission to feed these birds. In the hearing held on Wednesday, the court said that people are continuing to feed pigeon houses without permission.

What did the court order?

The Bombay High Court said- “This situation has now become more complicated with the emerging situation of blatant disregard of the law. In our earlier order, the petitions supporting feeding and gathering of pigeons were dismissed and now the municipal officials are being prevented from discharging their duties in this regard.” The court directed the BMC to take action against those who feed pigeons in violation of the instructions.
