Britain: Supporters of Palestine entered Cambridge University and created a ruckus, destroyed a 110-year-old painting of British politician Lord James Balfour of 1914 in a Cambridge college.

Pro-Palestinian activists in Britain have destroyed a historic painting of a politician who pushed for the creation of a Jewish state. An anti-Israel protester spray-painted a historic 1914 painting of Lord Balfour inside Trinity College and then tore it down with a sharp weapon. Painting glasses were also broken. The incident is said to have happened on Friday. Pro-Palestinian protesters entered Trinity College, Cambridge University. After this, a 1914 painting by British Conservative politician Lord Arthur James Balfour was vandalized and destroyed.

The picture of Lord Arthur made from the painting was spray-painted red and then cut into pieces. Palestine Action later shared the video on its social media handles and proudly announced that one of its activists had done the deed. The activist group sought to vandalize Philip Alexius de Laszlo’s red-painted painting as a symbol of “the bloodshed of the Palestinian people since the issuance of the Balfour Declaration in 1917”. The Palestine Action website recounts how the British politician supported the infamous Balfour Declaration of 1917, which promised “a national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine, despite the majority of the indigenous people not being Jews.

Palestine Action said such campaign will continue in future also
Palestinian leaders, who stormed Cambridge University, compared the move to laying the groundwork for ongoing “ethnic cleansing” of the native population. The move came as a direct protest against Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest arms supplier, which keeps Palestinians in Gaza as captive laborers to develop its weapons. The website editor’s note ends with the message, “Palestine Action pledges to continue its direct campaign until Elbit is closed and British complicity in the colonization of Palestine ends.”
