BWF World Championships: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India created history in the World Badminton Championship and secured a medal for India after 3 years

India has confirmed a medal in the World Badminton Championship 2025 being played in Paris. The Indian pair of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have made history by reaching the semi-finals of this championship. After the year 2022, this pair has made it to the semi-finals of this championship for the second time. Now this pair would like to change the color of their medal in this championship. On the other hand, India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu missed the medal. She had to face defeat in the quarter-finals. PV Sindhu has won 5 medals in the World Championship so far.

Satwik-Chirag pair did wonders

India’s Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty pair performed brilliantly in the World Badminton Championship. In the men’s doubles match, the pair defeated Malaysian pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 21-12, 21-19 to make it to the semi-finals. With this, they have also avenged their defeat against the Malaysian pair in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics and the semi-finals of the World Championship in 2022.

Earlier, Satwik and Chirag made it to the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championship in 2022. Where they had to face defeat in the semi-finals against the Malaysian pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. Due to this, the pair had to be content with the bronze medal, but this time both the players would like to change the color of their medal at all costs. On the other hand, India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu had to face defeat in the quarterfinals.

PV Sindhu’s journey ended
PV Sindhu’s dream of winning the sixth medal in the sixth World Badminton Championship was shattered in the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Sindhu had to face defeat in a tough match against Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani. After stunning world number two Wang Ji Yi of China 21-19, 13-21, 21-15 in just 48 minutes in the round of 16, Sindhu lost the first game 14-21 to Wardani but dominated the second game 21-13 to level the match.

Putri Kusuma Wardani took control in the deciding game, sealing Sindhu’s defeat and knocking the Indian star out of the medal race despite a strong comeback. PV Sindhu lost the match 14-21, 21-13, 16-21.
