The security of South Indian film actor and Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party chief Thalapathy Vijay has been increased. The central government has provided Y category security to C Joseph Vijay. The VIP Security Branch of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has taken over the responsibility of Thalapathy Vijay’s security. Sources have given information about this whole matter on Tuesday.

Why was the security increased?
The Union Home Ministry had decided to increase the security of Thalapathy Vijay based on the threat perception report prepared by intelligence agencies. Recently, the CRPF has taken over the responsibility of Vijay’s security. According to sources, 7 to 8 armed commandos of CRPF will be deployed with Vijay during his travel in Tamil Nadu.

Vijay will contest Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026
Thalapathy Vijay formed a political party in February last year. Vijay also announced that he would contest the Tamil Nadu assembly elections to be held in the year 2026. Let us tell you that Thalapathy Vijay did not support any alliance or party in the Lok Sabha elections held last year.

What is Y category security?

Y category security includes about 11 security personnel. These also include two PSOs (personal security guards). After assessing the security of a specific person by the Union Home Ministry, he is given security cover on that basis. The security system in the country is divided into four tiers, in which Z Plus (Z +) is at the top, while after this comes Z, Y and X category security.
