Canada: Indian man arrested in the case of the biggest theft in Canada, a container full of gold and foreign currency went missing from the airport itself…

Ottawa: A 36-year-old man of Indian origin has been arrested in connection with the theft of gold worth millions of dollars from Toronto’s main airport in Canada. About a month ago, five people were arrested in this case of the biggest theft in the history of the country. Police said that on April 17, 2023, the container containing gold bars and foreign currency worth more than 22 million Canadian dollars was stolen from a security storage facility using fake paperwork.

This is how the theft happened
The gold and foreign currency were transported on an Air Canada flight from Zurich, Switzerland to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. The container was moved to a different location at the airport soon thereafter. A day later the police were informed about its disappearance. After receiving the information, the police started investigating the case.

These people were also arrested
According to the police, investigators arrested Archit Grover, who came from India, at the Toronto airport on May 6, 2024. Last month, Indian-origin Parampal Sidhu (54) and Amit Jalota (40) were arrested from Ontario, along with Ammad Chaudhary (43), Ali Raza (37) and P Paramalingam (35) in the case.

According to the police, the theft was carried out in a very vicious manner. At least two former Air Canada employees also helped in this theft. One of them has been arrested while an arrest warrant has been issued against the other.
