Ottawa: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has decided to lead the Liberal Party in the upcoming elections despite the displeasure of his party MPs. Earlier, many Liberal Party MPs had demanded that Justin Trudeau should step down before the upcoming elections and should not contest the next election. The MPs believe that there is a lot of resentment among the people against the Trudeau government. However, now Trudeau has made it clear that he is not ready to step back.
What did Justin Trudeau say
Justin Trudeau was asked by journalists whether he would remain in the PM post even after October 28? On this, Trudeau clearly said – yes. Trudeau said that serious discussions are going on within the party about what will be the way forward, but all this will happen under my leadership. I will contest the next election. Apart from this, the Liberal Party MPs have given Trudeau time till October 28 to decide on leaving the PM post. The Liberal Party had to face defeat in the recent elections of two districts, after which voices are being raised against Trudeau’s leadership within the party itself.
Trudeau’s popularity is declining
Let us tell you that Justin Trudeau has been in power for the last nine years. In the history of Canada for more than a century, no Canadian Prime Minister has won the election four times in a row. Justin Trudeau wants to establish this record in his name but the survey results do not seem to be in his favor. Trudeau’s popularity is continuously declining. Elections in Canada can be held anytime between the end of this year or October next year.
