Cape Canaveral: Chinese scientists have analyzed the soil and rocks of the moon. After the analysis, Chinese scientists have said that the soil and rocks brought from the far side of the moon indicate that that part may be drier than the part facing the Earth. Scientists also said that more samples are needed for a clear picture.

China became the first country

Researchers said that the water found in the moon’s cover can help explain how the moon evolved. Last year, China became the first country to land on the far side of the moon. The spacecraft ‘Chang’e 6’ had extracted volcanic rock and soil from the South Pole-‘Aitken Basin’. Scientists have studied this soil and rock.

What was found in the analysis

Sen Hu of the ‘Chinese Academy of Sciences’ said that he and his team took five grams of soil samples. After this, 578 particles were selected from the soil with the help of an electron microscope for detailed analysis. Hu said that compared to the samples collected in the past decades from the near side of the moon, the abundance of water in these is less than 1.5 micrograms per gram. In the samples taken from the near side, this amount is between one microgram to 200 micrograms per gram.

More studies are needed
The study published in the ‘Nature magazine’ says that due to less samples, it is not clear how widespread this dry condition is. It says that more samples need to be studied.
