Enjamina: A massive explosion has been reported in Enjamina, the capital of Chad. It is being told that 9 people died in an explosion in a military ammunition depot here, while more than 40 people were injured. A government spokesman gave this information on Wednesday. Spokesman Abderman Koulamallah said that 46 people are being treated after the explosions in the Goudji district of the capital Enjamina. Local media reported that the explosions started just before midnight on Tuesday and lasted for more than 30 minutes, shaking the surrounding buildings.
Officials and witnesses said on Wednesday that several people were killed in an explosion and fire at a military ammunition depot in the capital of Chad. President Mahamat Deby Itno said in a post on the social media platform Facebook that the fire caused by the explosion had caused “loss of life and property”.

Deby said, “Rest in peace to the souls of the victims, heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.” However, he did not give any details on the number of casualties. The cause of the explosions at the depot late Tuesday night was not clear and the president said it would be investigated. According to Koulamallah, the situation has been brought under control with the deployment of security and health officials in the area. He has urged local residents to maintain peace.
