Defending champion Chennai Super Kings has suffered a huge setback before IPL 2024. The team’s star opener Devon Conway may remain out of IPL 2024 till May due to injury.

Actually, Conway suffered a thumb injury during the recent T20I series against Australia. Due to this injury, he could not even play the first match of the Test series against the Kangaroos. But now New Zealand Cricket has given an update on his injury and said that Conway will undergo thumb surgery due to which he will be out of action for 8 weeks.

 

Conway played an important role in making CSK champion for the record 5th time. He was the highest scorer of 672 runs for CSK in IPL 2023, while in the final he played a stormy innings of 47 runs in 25 balls, for which he was awarded the Player of the Match award.

 

The biggest question facing Mahendra Singh Dhoni at this time is who will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad for Chennai Super Kings in place of Conway. Mahi has an experienced option in Ajinkya Rahane. The last IPL season was excellent for Rahane, he has opened the innings in IPL before also.

 

Let us tell you, IPL 2024 is starting from March 22. Chennai Super Kings will play the opening match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore at their home ground.
