Two children died in an IED blast in village Odsapara Bodga across the Indravati river in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Naxalites had used IED to target the soldiers. Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav said that after receiving the information, Bhairamgarh police station will contact the villagers and take appropriate legal action.
Police officials said the blast took place in Bodga village under Bhairamgarh police station area on Sunday and the bodies of the victims’ relatives and villagers were brought to Bhairamgarh on Monday.

Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav said that the landmine was planted by Maoists to target the soldiers. When children were collecting tendu leaves on Sunday, a landmine exploded. Due to this, Laxman Oyam (13) and Boti Oyam (11), residents of Bodga village, died on the spot.
Officials said that after receiving the information, the villagers reached the spot and took the dead bodies with them. He said that Bhairamgarh police station will contact the villagers and take appropriate legal action.
Villagers died in the explosion
Maoists often plant landmines on roads, unpaved roads and forests to target security personnel while patrolling in the interior areas of Bastar region, which consists of seven districts including Bijapur. Police officials said that villagers have already died in Bastar region due to explosion in landmine laid by Maoists.

In the last one month, five people have been killed in landmine explosions planted by Naxalites at different places in Bijapur district. On May 11, a 25-year-old woman was killed in a similar incident in Gangalur area of the district. Earlier on April 20, a person had died in Gangalur area and on April 12, a laborer engaged in road construction work had died in a similar incident in Mirtur area.
