A major incident took place in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district on Wednesday. A soldier of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) opened fire inside the camp with his service rifle. Two of his fellow soldiers died in this firing, while two other soldiers were seriously injured. The injured soldiers were immediately admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. After receiving information about the incident, police officers immediately reached the camp and arrested the accused soldier. At present, the accused soldier is being questioned about the firing.
Police officials said that on Wednesday morning, some soldiers had a dispute among themselves in the camp of the 11th battalion of CAF located in Bhutahi village under Samari police station area of Balrampur district. The dispute escalated to such an extent that soldier Ajay Sidar opened fire with his service INSAS rifle. Soldiers Rupesh Patel and Sandeep Pandey died in this firing. At the same time, soldiers Ambuj Shukla and Rahul Baghel were injured. They are being treated in the hospital.
Firing in Bhutahi camp
Police officials said that in view of Naxalite activities in the areas bordering Jharkhand in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, a CAF camp has been set up in Bhutahi village. The 11th battalion of CAF is deployed in Bhutahi camp. At around 11.30 am on Wednesday, CAF jawan Ajay Sidar started indiscriminate firing with a service INSAS rifle. Four jawans present on the spot were shot in the firing.
IG Ankit Garg gave information about the incident
Jawan Rupesh Patel died on the spot due to bullet injuries, while three injured jawans were being taken to the hospital, when jawan Sandeep Pandey died on the way. IG (Inspector General of Police) of Surguja region Ankit Garg said that after the incident, jawan Sidar, who opened fire, has been caught. He is being interrogated. Ankit Garg said that the injured jawans have been admitted to the hospital. Their condition is out of danger.
