Devendra Singh Yadav Released: Congress MLA from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, Devendra Singh Yadav was released from Raipur jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail. He was arrested in June 2024 in connection with the Jaitkham cutting protest and arson at the Balodabazar Collector’s premises. Expressing happiness over his release from jail, Congress MLA Devendra Singh Yadav says, “I want to thank the people of Bhilai and all the members of the Congress party who supported me from the bottom of my heart.”
Youth Congress, NSUI gathered outside the jail to welcome him. They gave a warm welcome to the Congress leader. During this, Congress workers and supporters also raised slogans in support of Devendra Yadav.
Congress MLA from Bhilai, Devendra Yadav, lodged in Raipur jail, has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has directed him to get bail, but despite this, the Congress MLA will have to remain in jail till Friday (2 February 2025) evening. Devendra Yadav will be able to come out of jail only after the bail process is completed.
What is the matter
Last year on 10 June 2024, the people of the Satnami community burnt down the SP and Collector’s office in protest against the demolition of the Satnami community’s Jaitkham. In the case, Bhilai Congress MLA Devendra Yadav was also accused of inciting the crowd and supporting the agitators and a case was registered, after which he was arrested on 17 August 2024.
On behalf of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav, who reached the Supreme Court with a bail petition, his lawyer said, “On the day of Balodabazar violence, the Congress MLA only attended the meeting, during which he neither climbed the stage nor did he give any speech. In such a situation, it cannot be said that the Congress MLA tried to incite the crowd.”
