Chhattisgarh: Recently, a case of alleged objectionable remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a public rally by senior Congress leader Charan Das Manhat has come to light. After which an FIR was registered on Friday (March 5) against senior Congress leader Charan Das Mahant in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh.
Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said that this case has been registered following the instructions of the Election Commission. City Kotwali police station in-charge Aiman Sahu said that Election Commission officials had complained against Mahant, after which a case has been registered against Mahant under section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
BJP made these allegations against Mahant
The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has lodged a complaint against Mahant with the Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh. In this case, Charan Das Mahant has been accused of inciting Congress workers and the public to violence against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mahant had apologized for the controversial statement
However, Charan Das Manhat later apologized for his statement. Charan Das Manhat had said in a video statement that his statement was misinterpreted. In this video he said that if anyone has been hurt by this, he expresses regret for his comment.
Controversial statement given at Bhupesh Baghel’s nomination rally
Actually, former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel recently filed nomination from Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat. Many Congress leaders and officials participated in this nomination rally along with Charan Das Mahant.
During his address at the same rally, Charan Das Mahant said, “We need a man who can hold a stick in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we need a man who can break heads against him. This man can be none other than Bhupesh Baghel and Devendra Yadav.” BJP has accused this statement of Mahant of instigating against PM Modi.
