Ever since the formation of Chhattisgarh, this date has been recorded in the pages of history. The security forces entered the den of dreaded Naxalites and carried out the biggest ‘surgical strike’. A total of 29 Naxalites were killed in this action, which included the dreaded commander carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh. In a face-to-face encounter in the forests of Chhotabetiya in Kanker district, security forces entered the den and killed the hardcore Naxalites. This is the first time on the Naxal front that the force completely overpowered the Naxalites in a face-to-face fight and carried out the operation without any major casualties. However, three soldiers have been injured in the encounter, who have been airlifted and admitted to a private hospital in Raipur for better treatment.
According to police officials, in this encounter which lasted for five and a half hours, bodies of 29 Maoists along with a huge quantity of weapons were recovered. Regarding the planning of the operation, the officials said that this operation was carried out only because of the trust of the villagers and the accurate information of the police intelligence system. In this operation, apart from satellite images, drones were also used to continuously track the movement of Naxalites. Also searching was done in the area.
Security forces recovered bodies of 29 Naxalites
On April 16, at 2 pm, an encounter took place between the joint team of DRG and BSF and Naxalites in Hapatola forest between Binagunda and Koronar under Chhotabetiya police station in Kanker district. This direct encounter between the Naxalites and the soldiers who were out on the search operation lasted for about five and a half hours. During the search at the spot, bodies of 29 Naxalites were recovered. Three soldiers were injured in the encounter, whose treatment is going on in a private hospital in Raipur. The condition of the injured soldiers is said to be normal and out of danger.

Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma reached the hospital to meet the injured soldiers. Talking to the media, he told that this operation was carried out in an area of Maad, south of Kanker and north of Narayanpur. A large number of Naxalites were killed in this. Vijay Sharma said that I want to give credit to the security forces. This was possible only due to the strength of CRPF, DRG and BSF soldiers. I also praise the police officers. We are working under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Vijay Sharma also said that the great guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah is behind this.
Soldiers killed 80 Naxalites in 4 months
It is noteworthy that after the coming of BJP government in the state, the government has become very aggressive on the Naxal front. After Vijay Sharma took charge of the Home Ministry, strategic meetings were held in this regard. The area where the operation took place is Maad area. This is considered a stronghold of Naxalites. On Tuesday, based on the input, a joint team of DRG and BSF had gone on searching and there was an encounter with Naxalites around 2 pm. One of the killed Naxalites is also said to be a member of the Divisional Committee.
