Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote, “Strict land law is absolutely necessary to protect the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi, environmental balance and the rights of the common people … it will protect the original form.”

Uttarakhand: The new land law was approved in the first meeting of the Uttarakhand Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Today, during the assembly session, this new land law was passed by full majority in the House. After the passage of this bill in the House, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote a congratulatory message on X.

In a message posted on his official social media handle X (earlier Twitter), CM Dhami wrote, “Strict land law amendment bill passed by the assembly. He further wrote, “Today, a historic amendment bill was passed in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, making the land law more powerful.”

What did CM Dhami say about the new law?

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote, “Strict land law was absolutely necessary to protect the cultural heritage, environmental balance and rights of the common people of Devbhoomi.” He said, “This law will put a stop to uncontrolled land purchase and sale, keeping the interests of the state paramount and will protect the original form of the state.”

Emphasizing the importance of this bill, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami further said, “This important decision has been taken keeping in mind the sentiments and needs of the people of Uttarakhand.” He said, “Our government is committed to protect the honor, culture and natural resources of Devbhoomi.”

Let us tell you, after the implementation of the new land law, outsiders will be allowed to enter other 11 districts of Uttarakhand except Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. A ban has been imposed on the purchase of horticultural and agricultural land. This will give priority to local people.

This is the intention of the government

Under the new law, the Uttarakhand government is going to develop an online portal to make the land purchase process transparent in the state. Now the District Magistrate will not personally allow the purchase of land, but this entire process will be conducted through a portal created by the government.

Under the new rules, land purchases through outsiders will be registered and monitored. Apart from this, it will be mandatory for outside buyers to give affidavits, which will prevent fraud and irregularities. The objective of the government is to ensure the correct use of land in hilly areas and control encroachment.

All District Magistrates will have to submit the report related to land purchase to the government, which will give the government more control over it. The land falling in the municipal body area can be used only under the prescribed land use. In case of violation of the rules, the concerned land will be vested in the government.
