Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday accused Governor RN Ravi of working against the state government on all issues. When asked about the Governor’s recent allegations, CM Stalin said that Ravi has been making allegations against the state government on all matters and it is not just on one or two issues.
Governor Ravi had targeted Chief Minister Stalin for organizing the Gandhi Smriti program at the museum complex here. At the same time, his (governor) demand to include the name of the UGC chairman in the search committees to identify candidates for appointment to the post of Vice Chancellor in state-run universities were among the recent issues of disagreement between the Raj Bhavan and the government.
Hearing on appointment of Vice Chancellors on February 4
After inspecting the works related to the North Chennai Development Scheme here, the Chief Minister said that the Governor is taking a contrary stand towards the development work done by the state government for the public and he continues to do so. On the issue related to the appointment of Vice Chancellors, the Chief Minister said that his government has already taken the matter to the Supreme Court and it will be heard on February 4.
Did not attend ‘At Home’ reception
CM Stalin did not attend the traditional ‘At Home’ reception hosted by Governor RN Ravi on the occasion of Republic Day. He visited Madurai to attend events organised to felicitate him for getting the Centre’s tungsten mining initiative scrapped.
Criticism of DMK rule
The function held at the Raj Bhavan was attended by leaders of opposition parties AIADMK, BJP, DMDK and Puthiya Tamizhagam. Chief Minister Stalin and his cabinet colleagues attended the ‘At Home’ reception on the occasion of Independence Day in 2024. Governor Ravi, who has been critical of the DMK rule on several issues and policy matters. He had targeted the Stalin-led government in his address on the eve of Republic Day.
