Himachal Pradesh: A team from Himachal Pradesh left for the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand on Sunday. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu flagged off the team from the government residence Oak Over. During this, he talked about bringing a scheme for national level players. A 200-member team from Himachal Pradesh will participate in the National Games to be held from 28 January to 14 February.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the government will soon bring a new policy for national level players. The state government has taken several initiatives to promote sports and players. Basic sports infrastructure is being developed at the district level.
Apart from this, the prize money for players performing well in international sports events has also been increased. Emphasizing the commitment to the welfare of the players, the Chief Minister said that he too has been associated with sports. The needs of the players cannot be ignored. Earlier, under-17 and under-19 players used to get diet money of Rs 150 for state level competitions and Rs 250 for national competitions.
Increase in the amount given to international players
Speaking to the players in Shimla, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said, “The prize money for gold medal winners in Olympics, Winter Olympics and Paralympics has been increased from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore. Similarly, silver medal winners will get Rs 3 crore instead of Rs 2 crore. The amount for bronze medal winners has been increased from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.”
Silver medal winners will now get Rs 2.5 crore
He informed that the prize money for gold medal winners in Asian Games and Asian Para Games has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 4 crore. Silver medal winners will now get Rs 2.5 crore instead of Rs 30 lakh. The prize money for bronze medal winners has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. The Chief Minister said that gold medal winners in Commonwealth Games will get Rs 3 crore instead of Rs 50 lakh. Silver medal winners are being given Rs 2 crore instead of Rs 30 lakh and bronze medal winners are being given Rs 1 crore instead of Rs 20 lakh.
