Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu addressed the concluding session of the two-day National Cooperative Conference held in Shimla on Monday (September 15). He said that Himachal Pradesh has to struggle for its rights on many matters.

CM Sukhu said that despite the expiry of the lease period of the Shanan Hydroelectric Project located in Himachal Pradesh, it has not been handed back to Himachal from Punjab and even after the decision of the Supreme Court, the payment of dues from BBMB is also pending due to the obstruction of Punjab and Haryana. He said that Punjab and Haryana are like our elder brothers and they should provide generous support to their younger brother.

Inaugurated Cyber ​​Security Operation Center
On this occasion, CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Cyber ​​Security Operation Center of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank and also released the cooperative anthem and a souvenir of the bank.

‘Cooperative societies played an important role’
Congratulating on the successful organization of this session, the Chief Minister said that despite difficult geographical conditions, cooperative societies in Himachal Pradesh have played an important role in strengthening the rural economy. The cooperative movement in the state started in the year 1904 and this movement gained momentum after getting full statehood in the year 1971. Currently, there are more than 5,000 active cooperative societies in the state, including about 2,000 primary agricultural credit societies. These credit societies are providing essential financial services to farmers and rural families.

‘Considering exemption under Section 118 for buying land’

At the same time, on the request of Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, the Chief Minister assured that the government would consider providing exemption under Section 118 to cooperative societies for buying land for commercial purposes. He also asked the State Cooperative Bank to implement a one-time settlement policy to help make small farmers, gardeners, workers and traders debt-free.
