Lara Super Thermal Power Project
Similarly, NTPC’s Lara Super Thermal Power Project (1600 MW) is ensuring uninterrupted power supply to six states, including Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister stated that this project has strengthened energy security and provided new impetus to industrial and agricultural activities.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the Pragati Platform has developed a robust system for project monitoring, continuous review, and prompt resolution of bottlenecks. Projects worth over Rs 85 lakh crore
The 50th meeting of PRAGATI, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given new impetus to the development journey not only at the national level but also in Chhattisgarh. PRAGATI is an ICT-based platform developed for proactive governance and timely implementation, making the project monitoring and resolution process more effective.

Over the past decade, projects worth over ₹85 lakh crore have been accelerated through the Pragati platform. This has led to timely progress across the country in various infrastructure, energy, rail, road, coal, and other sectors. These projects include several important projects in Chhattisgarh.

The meeting specifically mentioned the modernization and expansion of the Bhilai Steel Plant. This project was approved in 2007. Regular reviews and inter-agency coordination at Pragati meetings have given the project renewed momentum, resulting in rapid progress and targeted progress.

The modernization of the Bhilai Steel Plant has significantly increased production capacity. It has also energized Chhattisgarh’s industrial development, employment generation, expansion of ancillary industries, and the regional economy. This has further strengthened the state’s position as a major steel producing hub in the country.

Similarly, the Lara Super Thermal Power Project in Raigarh, approved in 2009, accelerated progress under the Pragati Platform through high-level reviews, timely guidance, and continuous monitoring, and its implementation achieved substantial progress.

Today, the Lara Super Thermal Power Project has become one of the key projects strengthening national energy security. This project has not only increased power generation capacity but also further strengthened Chhattisgarh’s identity as a power hub of India. This has provided new stability to the energy system of both the state and the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined that the Pragati Platform has given new strength to cooperative federalism and that the joint efforts of the central and state governments have increased both speed and confidence in development work.

He said that the new impetus given to major projects like the modernization of the Bhilai Steel Plant and the Lara Super Thermal Power Project is a testament to the fact that the Pragati Platform has truly presented a model of solution-oriented governance. The Chief Minister stated that the completion of these projects has significantly enhanced the state’s industrial development, energy efficiency, investment, employment, and supporting economy.
