Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave important instructions regarding e-rickshaws in all 75 districts of UP on the first day of the new year, January 1, 2025. During the meeting of the State Road Safety Council, the CM gave necessary instructions related to road safety to all the departments.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Safety Council on Wednesday, the first day of the New Year. During this, he gave necessary instructions related to road safety to all the departments. The CM said that the District Road Safety Committee should complete the meeting under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate by January 5 at any cost. Awareness programs related to road safety rules should be organized in all schools and colleges from January 6 to 10. He also directed that the number of PRD and Home Guards should be increased for better traffic system in Maha Kumbh.

CM Yogi serious on road accidents
CM Yogi said that 23-25 ​​thousand deaths occurring every year in road accidents is a loss to the country and the state. These accidents happen due to lack of awareness. Road Safety Month should not be limited to Lucknow only, but it should be conducted smoothly in all 75 districts of the state. He said that apart from this, a road safety meeting should be held every month in the districts under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate in which Superintendent of Police / Senior Superintendent of Police, Municipal Commissioner, RTO, PWD officers, District School Inspector, Basic Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer etc. should be present. The progress of the work done at the district level should be evaluated at the government level every third month.

What instructions did CM Yogi give?

CM Yogi Adityanath said that those districts and places should be identified where more accidents are likely. For this, an action plan should be made to find out the reasons. Special attention needs to be paid to ensure that minors are not able to operate e-rickshaws and other vehicles. The registration process of e-rickshaws should be done smoothly.

Signage should be installed on the roads compulsorily, so that people can also have convenience in commuting. CM Yogi said that overloading is not tolerated at all. It should be stopped at the starting point itself. Loaded vehicles are also parked on expressways and highways, which cause accidents. These vehicles should be removed through cranes.

Awareness programs should be run to motivate people to adopt helmets, seat belts and other road safety standards. If a vehicle is challaned repeatedly, action should be taken for license/permit cancellation etc. This action should be compulsorily linked to fastag. Hoardings appealing to people should be put up by departments related to information, transport and road safety. These should also be put up outside all 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 1500 police stations and all municipal bodies.

Pedestrians/common people should be made aware that they should not run away after seeing an accident, but should take the injured to the nearest hospital or trauma center within the golden hour. Minimize the response time of ambulances.

Road safety parks should be built in every district on the lines of road safety clubs in schools and colleges. Dramas, music, poetry, essays, seminars, speeches, general knowledge competitions should be organized on topics related to traffic rules by connecting school children with road safety awareness programs.

Regular health check-ups of the drivers of transport corporation buses should be done compulsorily. The fitness of buses should also be taken care of. Street vendors should be established by creating vending zones in every body. Space should be created for them so that illegal stands are not set up anywhere on the roads.

Modified silencers and horns should be banned from bikes to prevent noise pollution. Illegal operation of buses causes accidents. Non-contracted buses should be registered and given fixed routes. This will improve connectivity and also provide convenience to the general public.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Urban Development Minister AK Sharma, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, Basic Education Minister (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh and top officials of various departments were present in the meeting.
