China-Pakistan: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reached Pakistan after India. He held a meeting with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar here, know why there is tension for India

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan after his India visit. During his meeting with Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday, August 21, he agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the industrial, agricultural and mining sectors. This meeting between Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi is expected to further strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and China, but it is also a matter of tension for India.

The Foreign Office (FO) said that during the sixth round of strategic talks of foreign ministers in Islamabad, the two leaders exchanged in-depth views on many aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor 2.0, trade and economic relations, multilateral cooperation and relations between the people of the two countries.

Deepening friendship between Pakistan and China

The friendship between Pakistan and China is getting deeper. The FO said, “The two sides reviewed the entire gamut of Pakistan-China relations and discussed important regional and global issues.” Underlining the evergreen strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, Dar and Wang agreed that Pakistan-China friendship is important for maintaining regional peace and stability and is also indispensable for the progress and prosperity of both countries, the Foreign Office said.

They also agreed to continue close coordination and communication in bilateral and multilateral forums.

China will help Pakistan to strengthen economically

In a press conference with Dar after the meeting, Wang expressed support for enhancing Pakistan’s economic strength and said that the current priority of both sides is the high-quality development of the upgraded version of CPEC. Wang said that the two countries will also jointly cooperate in the development and operation of Gwadar port.

He said that China appreciates Pakistan’s tireless efforts and immense sacrifices in combating terrorism. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s anti-terrorism campaign will ultimately succeed. They also said the two countries will work to further strengthen counter-terrorism and security cooperation.

Wang also expressed condolences over the deaths and destruction caused by the recent floods in Pakistan and announced that his country would provide immediate emergency humanitarian assistance to flood victims. “We had useful and substantive discussions today on diverse areas of mutual interest,” Dar said while addressing a joint press conference with Wang.

Dar also acknowledged China’s role in easing tensions with Afghanistan and said a trilateral meeting was held with his Afghan counterpart Amir Khan Muttaqi on Wednesday. Earlier, Foreign Minister Dar extended a warm welcome to Wang when he arrived at the Foreign Ministry for strategic talks. Wang will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
