CM Bhagwant Mann Inaugurated Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences: With the aim of providing high health services to the people of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday dedicated the Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences to the people. The announcement regarding the establishment of this institute was made in the budget session of the year 2022. This will be the first government health institution in Punjab, which will provide state-of-the-art health facilities like endoscopy, fibroscopy, endoscopic and ultrasound to the patients.
Its experts will also provide telemedicine services in all government hospitals of Punjab. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure for training and research facilities in hepatology. This institute has been established at a cost of more than Rs 40 crore. It will have a staff of about 450 employees including 80 doctors, 150 staff nurses and 200 Group-D employees. Professor Varinder Singh, former professor and head of Hepatology PGI, Chandigarh, has been appointed the director of the institution.
Headquarters built at a cost of Rs 2.63 crore
Liver related diseases will be treated exclusively through indoor and emergency services provided in this institute. Its objective is to make Punjab the center of medical health facilities in the entire country. Along with this, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the State Headquarters and four zonal offices of Food and Drug Administration in Punjab. This state headquarters has been built at a cost of Rs 2.63 crore, while the zonal offices established in Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Bathinda and Ferozepur have been built at a cost of about Rs 2.78 crore.
Four zonal offices are under construction in these districts
Apart from this, four zonal offices are under construction in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala and Hoshiarpur, whose construction will be completed soon. Not only this, district offices are also being constructed in Fazilka, Moga, Mansa and Sri Muktsar Sahib. Punjab government has provided land for these offices. Infrastructure and other facilities will be provided in these offices at a cost of Rs 34.66 crore. These offices will be equipped with the latest information technology facilities.
Allopathic medicines, cosmetic and homeopathic medicines are made available in Punjab and drug licenses are issued by the Food and Drug Administration. These new offices will provide better services to the people. Apart from this, storage facility will also be available in these offices to store the seized medicines and samples.
