CM Rekha Gupta – Delhi government will present its stand in writing to the Supreme Court for permission to burst green crackers during the festival of Diwali.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a major announcement, stating that she will request the Supreme Court to allow the use of green crackers on Diwali. She stated that the Delhi government will submit its written submission to the Supreme Court for permission to use green crackers during the Diwali festival.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that Diwali is the most significant religious festival in Indian culture, and considering the sentiments of millions of people in Delhi, the government will request the Honorable Supreme Court to allow the use of certified green crackers in Delhi during the festival.

Government Reiterates Its Commitment
The Chief Minister clarified that all green crackers must be manufactured by authorized organizations certified by competent and relevant departments. Furthermore, the Delhi government reiterated its commitment to effectively curb pollution and protect the environment. The government has also assured the Honorable Supreme Court of its full cooperation in implementing any directives issued in this regard.

SC Permits Green Firecrackers
Earlier, the Supreme Court granted a major relief to certified firecracker manufacturers on Friday, allowing them to manufacture green firecrackers. However, this permission came with an important condition: these firecrackers would not be sold in Delhi-NCR without prior approval.

The bench headed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai also directed the central government to reconsider its decision to impose a complete ban on firecracker manufacturing in Delhi-NCR.

Manufacturers must submit an affidavit
Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice N.V. Anjaria were also part of the bench. The court ordered that manufacturers who have certification from NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) and PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation) are permitted to manufacture firecrackers. However, the manufacturers will have to give an affidavit before the court that they will not sell their firecrackers in the prohibited areas (Delhi-NCR) till further orders of the court.
