Congress leader P Chidambaram on Monday fiercely targeted the Center over ‘One Nation, One Election’. He said that the policy of ‘One Nation-One Election’ is not possible under the current Constitution. For this, not one or two but at least five constitutional amendments are needed. Along with this, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not even have enough numbers to introduce these constitutional amendments in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.

Since then, there was a discussion in the political corridors that the government can take a decision on this soon. These days there is also a discussion that the government is preparing to bring a bill on ‘One Nation, One Election’ in Parliament.

Responded to PM’s royal family statement
On September 15, in a rally in Kurukshetra, PM Modi targeted the Congress and said that its royal family wants to end reservation for Dalits. He stressed that as long as he is in power, he will not let even a fraction of the reservation given by Ambedkar be looted or ended.
On this, Chidambaram rejected the allegation. He also said that he said in a witty manner, ‘Why should we end reservation? We are the ones who are saying that the 50 percent reservation limit should be abolished. We are the ones who are demanding caste census. We are saying that reservation should be according to population.’ Along with this, he said that do not believe everything the Prime Minister says.
Said this about CM face in Haryana
On the announcement of the Chief Ministerial candidate from Congress for the Haryana Assembly elections, he said that generally Congress does not announce the Chief Ministerial candidate before the elections. He said, ‘The practice is that elections are held, MLAs gather and their choice is asked. Then the high command announces who will be the Chief Minister. I think the same practice will be adopted in Haryana as well. During this, he appealed to the people to vote for Congress in the assembly elections and promised that his party will bring back the growth rate of Haryana and promote industry as well as deal with the issues of unemployment and inflation.’
